80/20 Rule – Don’t Stop Creating Content!

80/20 Rule by Vilfredo Pareto or also known as the Pareto Rule.
Simply put, 20% of your efforts produce 80% of the results.

How can I use the 80/20 Rule to help me succeed?

In order to answer this question I need define a few things.

Goals – First I need to define my goal.

My goal is to create a successful YouTube channel and Blog.

Options – What are the options I can take in order to achieve my goal?

Create content (videos/articles).

Advertise my content.

Work on optimizing SEO.

What is the best option or combination of options that I should take to achieve my goal?

Without having a successful YouTube Channel or Website, I don’t have the experience to know, what works and what doesn’t. In an arena that I’m not use to, I typically implement a “stab in the dark” method. I would just try whatever I thought would work. Its not the best method but its the only method I knew, until I had a better understanding of the 80/20 rule.

Strategies

What I know – 20% of my content will account for 80% of my traffic.

What I don’t know – What content falls into the top 20%

The more content I create, the better I can identify which content is the most valuable (top 20%).

The faster I create the content, the faster I can identify which content is the most valuable. Have a minimum quality standard on content, I don’t want to be know for creating garbage.

Once the most valuable content has been identified, determine what is common among them and create more content based on that info.

The 80/20 rule has no upper limit, meaning it dos not stop being true the more you create.

Conclusion: DON’T STOP CREATING!!!

Here is my strategy on how to use this rule for YouTube/Blogging.

1) Pump out a lot of content
2) Have a minimum quality standard
3) Mix Minimum quality and High quality content
4) Stay away from 80% bad content
5) Gravitate towards 20% good content

DON’T STOP UPLOADING!!!! ——- DON’T STOP CREATING!!!!

Cheapest Way to Ship Internationally with Tracking – A Beginners Guide

All of the steps that I discussing will be using USPS. USPS is the Cheapest Way to Ship Internationally for smallish items. This guide will NOT cover all International Mail Services, it will cover most of your international shipping needs. To calculate shipping cost you can use use the USPS Postage Price Calculator. I have condensed my knowledge down to 3 easy steps which I call The Max Cost Shipping Method.

Shipping internationally is not for the faint of heart, there are many pitfalls, regulations and misinformation. I will attempt to demystify the exotic and scary world of International Shipping.

The Max Cost Shipping Method - For International Shipping
The Max Cost Shipping Method – For International Shipping

1. First Class Mail International – Max $35.00

Price Range – The price range to ship to just about any country for a 1 oz to 4 lbs package is $10 to $58 respectively. A 1 lbs laptop would cost me $15.50 in shipping to Canada using Fist Class Mail International service. The cheapest way to ship internationally is Fist Class Mail International. If your package goes over $34.00, go to the next shipping method, Priority Padded Flat Rate Envelope or Priority Small Flat Rate Box.

Priority Padded Flat Rate Envelope – $34.00

Priority Small Flat Rate Box – $35.00

Padded Flat Rate Envelops and Small Flat Rate Boxes are treated just as First Class International Mail except for the price. Flat Rate means the same price for all countries that the USPS ships to. Priority Flat Rate Envelope is the cheapest way to ship internationally using a flat rate service. The following restrictions apply to First Class Mail International, Padded Flat Rate Envelops and Small Flat Rate Boxes.

Maximum Weight is 4lbs to most country’s. Please check your county’s maximum weight limit.

Maximum Size – Limit of a combined length, height, and width is 36 inches (42 inches for rolls/tubes) for most countries.

Maximum Value – The value of the package cannot exceed $400 in value

Delivery Time 7 to 21 days but it is not guaranteed.

Tracking is included to a limited number of countries. Just because the destination country has tracking doesn’t mean that they will be consistent in using it.

Insurance is NOT available for this service.

Customs Form PS Form 2976 – Make sure you sign the form before mailing. The package you are sending has to be, at the very minimum, the size of the customs form. The customs form CANNOT be wrapped around the package.

PS Form 2976 - Cheapest Way to Ship Inter
PS Form 2976 – Cheapest Way to Ship Internationally

Custom Fees are paid by the person who is receiving the package. It is difficult to figure out what the customs fees are going to be. Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System or HS Tariff, can be looked up but is very complicated and would require a separate full article. I usually leave the HS Tariff section blank, the destinations country Customs Agent will fill it in and calculate a customs fee for me.

Shipping Supplies – Use your own packaging except for the Priority Flat Rate materials. Priority shipping materials are provided for free at the Post Office or you can have USPS ship them to you for free.

2. Priority Mail International – Max $96.00

Price Range – The price range to ship to just about any country for a 4.1 lbs to 70 lbs package is $42 to $450.00 respectively, using standard non-flat rate Priority Mail International. A 6 lbs car part would cost me $70 in shipping to Australia. Standard non-flat rate Priority Mail International is the cheapest way to ship internationally that includes tracking and insurance to some countries. If your package costs over $76.00 go to Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box. Or if your item does not fix in a Medium Flat Rate Box, then once your package cost over $96.00, go to Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box.

Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate Box – $76.00 – Max 20 lbs

Box 1 Size – 11 x 8.5 x 5.5

Box 2 Size – 11.88 x 3.38 x 13.63

Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box – $96.00 – Max 20 lbs

Box 1 Size – 12 x 12 x 5.5

Board Game Box Size – 23..69 x 11.75 x 3

Maximum Weight – The max weight limit for non-flat rate Priority Mail International is 70 lbs. The max weight limit for Priority Medium and Large Flat Rate Boxes is 20 lbs. Each country will have there own max weight limit. Please check your county to see its maximum weight limit. Example: USPS has a Max weight limit of 70 lbs but Canada’s weight limit is 66 lbs.

Delivery Time is 6 to 10 business days.

Tracking is included to many but not all countries.

Insurance – Includes insurance up to $200 to some countries. More insurance can be purchased if offered. There are some countries where the USPS does not offer insurance.

Customs Form PS Form 2976-A – This form is MANDATORY. Make sure you sign ALL the forms before mailing.

Customs Envelope PS Form 2976-E – The Customs Forms PS Form 2976-A must be placed inside of of Customs Envelope PS Form 2976-E. This envelope is MANDATORY. The Customs Envelope then can be placed on your package. The package you are sending has to be, at the very minimum, the size of the customs form/envelope. The customs form/envelope CANNOT be wrapped around the package.

Shipping Supplies: USPS provides Priority Shipping Material for free including the Customs Forms/Envelopes. Or you can use your own packaging.

3. Restrictions and More

USPS has restrictions on what they allow to be shipped using their services. In additions to USPS restrictions, each destination country also has their own restrictions. Please check your destinations restrictions to see if the item you are mailing is or is not allowed.

Examples of a few restrictions for Canada:

Gold bullion, gold dust, and nonmanufactured precious metals.

Non-refillable lighters or any other lighter that contains fuel. New lighters with no fuel may be sent.

Oleomargarine and other butter substitutes, including altered or renovated butter.

Plumage and skins of wild birds.

Restrictions do change, please make sure you check the Destinations Counties Import restrictions from one of its government websites.

Only ship items that you would not mind losing. I know that you don’t want to lose anything but if I was extremely worried about losing an item that would cost me $100 to replace, then I might not want to ship it abroad. But if I had an item that would only cost me $15 to replace, then it wouldn’t bother me as much if it gets lost in transit. Many things can go wrong with shipping internationally, so do it at your own risk.

Shipping prices increase every year, so the above prices will be out of date soon but the order of the shipping service will stay the same. So the cheapest way to ship internationally with tracking will be First Class Mail International then Priority Mail International.

If your going to be shipping a lot of packages over time, make sure you get shipping discounts. At the end of the year when I do my taxes, I go over all my fees and Shipping is the BIGGEST by far! Anything you can do to reduce those costs are mandatory in order to stay in businesses and stay competitive. To get the cheapest way to ship internationally you can find discounts online. There are online shipping services where you can buy shipping at discount rates. Companies like Stamps.com have special agreements with USPS, FedEx and UPS where you can get up to 20% off shipping costs.

When shipping via Media Mail, you agree to allow USPS to open your box and inspect the items inside. If they find that the item you are shipping does NOT qualify for Media Mail, they will stop your package and your client will NOT receive it.

2. First Class Mail – Max $6.00

Price Range – An 8 oz toy would cost me $3.64 to ship across the United States. The price range for 1 oz to 16 oz  is $3 to $6 respectively.

Shipping prices increase every year, so the above prices will be out of date soon but the order of the shipping service will stay the same. So The cheapest way to ship a package will always be Media Mail then First Class Mail then Priority Mail.

Knowing the Max price for shipping is very important especial when having to estimate shipping cost. When I go on buying trips, I don’t have the luxury of bringing a scale with me to weigh goods. I guess the weight of the item and that tells me which shipping method I will be using to mail it. I then use the Max cost of that shipping method to determine if that product will be profitable, eg: Price of item for Sale on my platform $15 – Item cost $2 – Max Shipping Cost $6 = $7.00. I would profit at least $7 and if the item weighs less then what I estimated, my profit would go up.

It also helps me when listing my items for sale. Everyone of my items has free shipping. In order to know how much to price my item for, I have to roughly know what the shipping costs are so that I don’t price them so low that I would lose money. Memorizing the above shipping categorizes was easy and essential for me early on in my selling career.

There are online shipping services where you can buy shipping at discount rates. Companies like Stamps.com have special agreements with USPS, FedEx and UPS where you can get up to 20% off shipping costs.

If your interested in How to Sell iPhones Cases check out my article. I also talk about how to dropship products.

How to Sell iPhone Cases

1. How to Sell iPhone Cases

How to Sell iPhone Cases? The first step of choosing what to sell is always, “Is it in DEMAND“!?! Since the beginning, cell phones have always gotten dropped, dinged and dunked. Just about everyone I known that owns a cell phone also owns a phone case. So yes, iphone cases ARE in demand. What I’m going to do in this article is show you how to choose the BEST iphone cases to sell and how to sell them.

2. Where to Find iPhone Cases

AliExpress.com has one of the largest selections of iPhone accessories on the internet! Its also the largest dropshipping site that there is. The have manufactures from all over the world, list the goods they have for sale. Buying direct from the manufacture will allow you to get the biggest possible saves you can. In the online market, you need to make every cent count in order to compete and stay open for business.

3. Only Sell High Demand iPhone Cases

You don’t just want to sell any iPhone case, you want to sell the ones that are in the highest in DEMAND. There is no reason to sell items that take years to sell. Lucky for us AliExpress allows for us to sort their products by “Order”, meaning we can see which items have the highest number of sales. The higher the order number, the more they have sold, the more in demand that item is. There are many of these little market indicators scattered all through out the internet, you just have to know where to look. I will be going over a few of those indicators in this article.

For the purposed of this article I chose the first iphone cases that showed up, e.g. “Sexy Retro Floral Phone Case For Apple iPhone 7 6 6s 5 5s SE Plus Lace Flower Hard PC+TPU Cases Back Cover Capa For iPhone7Plus”. The order quantity for this listing is 47,024!

4. How to Find Off Site Demand Indicators

One of the ways I check to see if an item is worth selling is to check for off site demand indicators like eBay or Amazon. If I can see that these iPhone cases are actually being sold, then I know that I can sell them too.

eBay Price - How to Sell iPhone Cases
eBay Price – How to Sell iPhone Cases

As you can see they DO sell on eBay. The prices are low but they are selling. I believe that the prices are low because no one can compete with this seller from China. I also believe that these same cases are being sold on eBay at a higher price under a different name. By listing these products under a different name, the seller doesn’t have to compete with the seller from China. This is an insider secret tip on how to sell iphone cases, make sure you NEVER use the stock name of the product. The big take away from this is that people ARE buying this case.

Amazon Price - How to Sell iPhone Cases
Amazon Price – How to Sell iPhone Cases

You can also see that these cases are listed on Amazon. These listings are new so we don’t know if they are selling yet. The seller posted them at a price I think is reasonable and still be enough to make money.

For those of you planning on selling these iPhone cases on eBay or Amazon, please make sure you physically have the products in hand. You do NOT want to dropship when selling on eBay or Amazon. It may take longer then the period of time eBay or Amazon allows, for you customer to receive their goods. This would result in you getting restricted or out right banned from the platform. If you plan on dropshipping, make sure that you have your own store where you get to make the rules.

5. Price Points

When selling fast moving products, smaller margins are perfectly acceptable. Lets say you price you iPhone Case at $9.99 and the case cost you $1.60 and you are dropshipping it for free: your profit will be ($9.99 – $1.60) = $8.39. Now lets say you sell 10 a day, ($8.39 * 10) = $83.90!! Thats $84 a DAY for 1 product!!! Even if you priced your cases lower, the volume of sales would still make the small margins acceptable. FYI, you’re not going to be selling just 1 item, you’re going to have a few to hundreds of items for sell!

6. Where to Sell iPhone Cases

You can sell these cases anywhere: CraigsList, eBay, Amazon, OfferUp or even at the Swap Meet. The easiest and best way how to sell iphone cases is to sell them in your own online store. In your own store, you can set the rules as you see fit. You can name the price, determine the shipping speed and most importantly implement a really easy dropshipping plan.

If you want to start your very own turn key store, check out my video tutorial.
